“VGuard” Project Implemented within the Operational Programme Smart Growth 2014-2020

Action 1.3: R&D activities financed with the participation of equity funds Sub-action 1.3.1: Support for research and development projects in the preseed phase through proof of concept type funds – BRIdge Alfa

Project objective:

Development of an innovative system for transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation based on the device – VGuard.

Neuromedical is carrying out a project co-financed by the European Funds within the framework of Priority Axis I: Research, development and commercialization of knowledge of the Regional Operational Programme of the Łódź Voivodeship for the years 2014-2020

Project title: “Development and clinical trials of a device for vagus nerve stimulation in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease V-Guard.” Project number: RPLD.01.02.02-10-0067/17-00.

Project objective:

The main objective of the Project is the development and clinical trials of a personal brain stimulator for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. The implementation of the project will allow for the development of an innovative medical device, enabling the treatment of cognitive disorders. The stimulator will be a pioneering solution on a global scale, introducing a new method of therapy that delays the development or reverses the symptoms of the disease. The effectiveness of the method is based on mild, completely non-invasive stimulation of the vagus nerve and the production of neurotransmitters in the brain structures directly responsible for memory consolidation processes (including the hippocampal formation). The unique feature worldwide lies in the treatment of early symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease in the form of mild cognitive impairments (MCI). Importantly, thanks to the cooperation of the VGuard stimulator with mobile devices, it will be possible to quickly read the stimulation parameters, which will greatly facilitate the personalization of therapy.

Planned outcomes:

Construction of the “V-Guard” medical device for non-invasive brain stimulation in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
